Privacy Policy

Gerald is a trade name of Jetdocs Inc., an Ontario corporation. In this policy, “Gerald”, “we” and “us” mean that company, and we are the organization accountable for the personal information described below. This policy explains what we collect when you use Gerald, why we collect it, why we need it, who we share it with, and what you can ask us to do with it.

We handle personal information in accordance with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). This page describes what we actually do today. We do not claim certifications, audits or compliance programs we have not established.

Information we collect

We collect only what we need to act on your request.

• Contact details—your name, email address, phone number, and your preferred way of being contacted.
• Service address and access details—the address where the work happens, plus practical facts about getting to it: floor, stairs, gate width, parking, and similar.
• Job details—what you tell us about the work, including anything you type into the Gerald assistant, and any photos you choose to upload.
• Operator applications—if you apply to work with Gerald as a trade business, the business name, contact details, service area, trades offered, and the background information you provide.
• Technical and usage data—aggregate analytics about how pages are used and performing, plus the IP address of requests, which we use for rate limiting and abuse prevention.

We do not ask for, and you should not send us, payment card numbers, government identification numbers, or health information. Gerald is not intended for children and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.

How we use it

• To understand, scope, price and respond to your request.
• To coordinate the work with the local operator assigned to your job, and to keep you updated while it is under way.
• To bill you for work you have agreed to, and to keep records of it.
• To respond to questions, resolve problems, and handle complaints or claims.
• To keep the service secure and working—rate limiting, abuse prevention, debugging and performance monitoring.
• To meet our legal, tax and regulatory obligations.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not rent, trade or share it for anyone else's advertising, and we do not use it to build advertising profiles.

The Gerald assistant

The chat on this site is powered by a third-party large language model provider, which processes the messages you send in order to generate a reply and summarize your request for our team. Please don't type anything into it you wouldn't want recorded on your request. Under that provider's terms for business customers, your conversation is not used to train their models.

Who we share it with

We share personal information only where it is needed to deliver the service or where the law requires it.

• The operator assigned to your job—the details they need to arrive prepared and do the work. They are required to use it only for your job.
• Service providers who run parts of our platform—hosting, database and file storage, the language model provider, analytics, and the workflow tool our team uses to action new requests. They act on our instructions.
• Professional advisers—accountants, insurers and lawyers, where reasonably needed.
• Authorities—where we are legally required to disclose, or where disclosure is necessary to protect someone from harm or to establish or defend a legal claim.
• A successor—if the business or its assets are sold or reorganized, information may transfer as part of that transaction, subject to this policy.

Photos you upload are held in private storage. They are not publicly accessible and are not posted to third-party tools; our team and the assigned operator retrieve them through time-limited links.

Where it is stored

Our providers may store or process personal information outside Canada, including in the United States. While it is in another country it may be accessible to that country's courts and authorities under their laws. We choose established providers and are bound by their data-processing terms covering how they handle information on our behalf.

How long we keep it

We keep request and job records for as long as needed to deliver the service and then for as long as we are required to for tax, accounting, insurance and limitation-period reasons. When information is no longer needed for any of those purposes, we delete it or render it anonymous.

Security

We use access controls, encryption in transit, private storage for uploads, and server-side secrets that are never exposed to the browser. No system is perfectly secure, and we do not promise that ours is. If a breach creates a real risk of significant harm to you, we will notify you and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada as required.

Your choices and rights

You can ask us to give you a copy of the personal information we hold about you, correct it if it is wrong, delete it, or tell you how it has been used and disclosed. You can withdraw consent at any time, subject to legal and contractual limits—note that withdrawing consent for the information we need to do a job means we can no longer deliver that job.

Email hello@usegerald.ca and we will respond within 30 days. We may need to verify your identity first. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Messages from us

We will email or text you about a request you submitted or a job in progress—those are service messages, not marketing. Any promotional message we send will include a way to unsubscribe, and unsubscribing will not affect service messages about live work.

Cookies and analytics

We use aggregate analytics to understand how the site is used and how quickly it loads. We do not use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking. Your browser settings let you block or clear cookies; the site works without them.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of the page. Material changes will be signposted on the site.
